The Beginning of the Brazilian Music!

The music of Brazil encompasses various regional music styles influenced by African, European and Amerindian forms. Brazilian music developed some unique and original styles such as "samba, MPB, bossa nova, sertanejo, pagode, tropicália, choro, maracatu, frevo, forró, axé, brega and Brazilian rock and rap"

The musical life of Brazil had some periods like the classical period, the romantic period, the nationalism, the avant-Garden movement and the contemporary.

The Classical Period:

In the classical period, a crucial fator for the changes in the musical life was the arrival of the Portuguese Royal family to Rio de Janeiro in 1808. The Romantic Period:

The romantic period was when the interest of the national composers was focused on the opera. The opera in Brazil was very popular until the middle of the 20th century.

The nationalism period was a movement for creating an authentic Brazilian music, with fewer influences of the European culture.
